These Dems are dumb & dumber,”](https://nypost.com/2026/07/15/opinion/miranda-devine-the-dems-attempt-to-become-the-party-of-manly-men-proves-theyre-getting-dumb-and-dumber/) July 16).\n\nPerhaps it’s because they’ve overlooked a group of manly men who voters would actually identify with: men who are dedicated fathers and husbands.\n\n_Anthony Daddiego_\n\n_Flushing_\n\n## JD puts us first\n\nI applaud Vice President JD Vance for sharing his candid views on the Middle East on Joe Rogan’s podcast ( [“Don: I’ll obliterate ’em,”](https://nypost.com/2026/07/15/us-news/trump-doesnt-rule-out-decimating-irans-islamic-revolutionary-guard-corps/) July 16).\n\nHe is the only rational voice against an “indefinite war” within the Trump administration. I admire his boldness in confronting the war faction, while maintaining fierce loyalty to President Trump. His “America first” approach to governing would make him a great future president of the United States.\n\n_Nick Gatsoulis_\n\n_Manhattan_\n\n## No booze is safe\n\nThe “Cheers for Change” initiative seeks to reduce or eliminate current regulations regarding the sale of alcoholic beverages in New York state ( [“Spirited booze law campaign,”](https://nypost.com/2026/07/12/us-news/cheers-campaign-seeks-to-end-prohibition-era-rules-in-ny/) July 13).\n\nBut according to the US Surgeon General’s 2025 advisory, alcohol consumption is responsible for almost 100,000 cancer cases and 20,000 cancer deaths every year. There’s also no safe level of alcohol consumption: 17% of alcohol-related cancer deaths involve people who don’t exceed the recommended daily limits.\n\nWe need a different sort of initiative — a campaign to make people realize that drinking alcohol in any amount carries real risks to life and health.\n\n_Mark Hoglund_\n\n_Brooklyn_\n\n### Get opinions and commentary from our columnists\n\nSubscribe to our daily Post Opinion newsletter!\n\nNever miss a story.","source_name":"New York Post","source_url":"https://nypost.com/2026/07/18/opinion/dems-need-good-dads-and-more-letters/","url":"https://nypost.com/2026/07/18/opinion/dems-need-good-dads-and-more-letters/","author":"Post readers","author_name":"Post readers","published_at":"2026-07-18T17:12:20.000Z","publication_date":"2026-07-18T17:12:20.000Z","image_url":"https://nypost.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2026/07/newspress-collage-05l3hazmw-1784394678552.jpg?quality=75&strip=all&1784380290&w=1200","category":"world","topic":"world","tags":[],"political_bias":null,"bias_score":null,"confidence_score":null,"credibility_score":null,"factual_quality":null,"reading_time":2,"word_count":284,"view_count":0,"breaking":false,"breaking_news":false,"ai_analysis":null,"fact_check_status":"unverified","archive_status":"hot"}}
