Read our[Privacy notice](https://www.independent.co.uk/service/privacy-policy-a6184181.html)\n\n \n\nA man has been charged with [murder](https://www.independent.co.uk/topic/murder) over the death of a man in [Clapham](https://www.independent.co.uk/topic/clapham) in the early hours of Saturday morning.\n\nJaved Khan, 22, is accused of stabbing Abdulkadir Mahamed to death. He also faces a charge of violent disorder on Clapham High Street arising from the same incident.\n\nKhan is due to appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Monday, alongside a second man, Adonay Berhan, 27, who is accused of assisting an offender.\n\nThe Metropolitan Police were called at 4.37am on Saturday morning after reports that Mr Mahamed had been taken to hospital with stab wounds.\n\nHe died later the same morning.\n\nThe Met said six men were arrested on suspicion of murder, including three aged 22 and a fourth aged 24 who had also been taken to hospital with stab wounds.\n\nJaved Khan is due to appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Monday, alongside a second man, Adonay Berhan, 27, who is accused of assisting an offender(PA Archive)\n\nOn Monday, Scotland Yard said a 25-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder remains in custody, after receiving hospital treatment for injuries.\n\nThe men treated in hospital for stab wounds have now been released with no further action.\n\nSuperintendent Mark Gallacher, a policing lead for the area, said on Saturday: “This is a tragic incident and our officers continue to support the family of the young man who has sadly died.\n\n“We understand that this will cause concern among the local community and specialist detectives are doing everything possible to determine what has happened.\n\n“We are asking anyone with any information or anyone who may have witnessed anything in the early hours to contact us and support with the ongoing investigation.”\n\nPolice said they believe Mr Mahamad was stabbed close to Tremadoc Road in Clapham.\n\nAccording to the charges, Berhan is accused of driving away from the scene, allegedly to “impede the apprehension or prosecution” of a third man who is also suspected of murder.\n\nBoth Khan and Berhan are in custody and are expected to appear in court later on Monday.\n\n### More about","source_name":"The Independent","source_url":"https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/clapham-stabbing-abdulkadir-mahamed-javed-khan-b3022167.html","url":"https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/clapham-stabbing-abdulkadir-mahamed-javed-khan-b3022167.html","author":"Tristan Kirk","author_name":"Tristan Kirk","published_at":"2026-07-27T10:32:09.000Z","publication_date":"2026-07-27T10:32:09.000Z","image_url":"https://static.independent.co.uk/2026/04/01/10/12/IMG_0378.jpeg","category":"world","topic":"world","tags":[],"political_bias":null,"bias_score":null,"confidence_score":null,"credibility_score":null,"factual_quality":null,"reading_time":3,"word_count":503,"view_count":0,"breaking":false,"breaking_news":false,"ai_analysis":null,"fact_check_status":"unverified","archive_status":"hot","language":null}}
