Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) announced Monday that its Aerospace Force intercepted and destroyed a US MQ-1 drone over the Strait of Hormuz. Reports from Iranian state-affiliated channels, including Press TV and Tasnim News Agency, cite the IRGC's Public Relations Department confirming the incident.
According to Tasnim News, the drone was brought down by a new advanced air defense system operating under the control of the country's integrated air defense network. Press TV described the aircraft as an "advanced" MQ-1 model, noting it was intercepted over the strategic waterway.
