Iran appears to have relaxed its preconditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, saying it is prepared to do so within seven days if the U.S. takes reciprocal steps to ease pressure on Iran. Previously, Iran had set seven onerous preconditions for lifting the blockade, including an "end to war on all fronts," per the Guardian. Trump claimed Tehran would make a deal after the U.S. midterms.
In a separate meeting at the UN, Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed how to find a solution to end Russia's war in Ukraine, marking their first meeting at the UN headquarters in New York on Tuesday per NRK.
Jordan's King Abdullah II also addressed the General Assembly, warning that technology and artificial intelligence are causing attention spans to dwindle, which could affect geopolitical stability. "The scale of knowledge and the speed of change are unprecedented," the monarch said.
