Delegates walked out of the UN General Assembly hall during Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's address, prompting him to describe those who left as “moral cowards.”
The diplomatic protest occurred as Nigeria addressed the assembly, stating that the persistence of conflict worldwide recalls the purpose for which the United Nations was founded.
Nigeria's Finance Minister, Taiwo Oyedele, also called on the international community to make affordable, long-term capital available for infrastructure and energy projects across Africa.
In other diplomatic news, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman conveyed condolences to Dubai's Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid over the death of his brother, Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid. Separately, Israeli footballer Sayed Abu Farhi was sent off during a Nations League match for a goal celebration that mimicked shooting a gun.
